About Us – Fika 33

At Fika 33, we are not just brewing coffee – we are brewing a little pause in the middle of Killeshandra. A place where you can wander in after a lakeside walk, take a seat without rushing, and feel like you have been here before – even if it is your first time.

We did not just set out to open a cafe. We set out to make a little space in Killeshandra where people could pause – slow down – and enjoy a riveting, gastronomic experience. Somewhere you can wander in for hearty conversations or just your morning staple. Somewhere the smell of fresh coffee greets you at the door, and you hear the hum of locals indulging in the simple joys of life.

Where the Steam Rises and Stories Unfold

The Fika 33 experience is all about a soulful cup of coffee, served with food that hits the spot, giving you plenty of reasons to hang around a while longer than you had planned.

Whether you are popping in after a brisk lakeside walk or parking up with a laptop and a strong flat white – we have you covered. Maybe you are here for a flaky croissant and a quiet morning. Or maybe it’s one of those days and you need the full Irish, with extra toast and a whole lot of gastronomic satisfaction. Either way – you are in the right place.

Our Origin

Fika 33 is the embodied vision of Tomas O’Reilly, who saw that Killeshandra needed a place for people to gather again. The building has deep family roots – once a busy B&B run by Tomas’s parents, now home to both our cafe and the Shamrock Inn pub right next door.

After the pub sat closed for years, Tomas brought the lounge area back to life as a cafe in July 2022. Alongside the food and coffee, we now offer self-catering accommodation, making the premises a true hub for locals and visitors.

Today, the cafe is run by Tomas and his wife, while his sisters manage the pub – a proper family effort. We believe in food that is fresh, coffee that is worth coming back for, and creating a space where laughter and conversations come as standard.

Our Philosophy

We are here because we care about Killeshandra – its people, its businesses, and its spirit.

  • We use as much local produce as possible, supporting the very suppliers and makers who keep the town ticking.
  • We employ local people, keeping jobs and skills in the community.
  • We want to be a meeting place – after a match, a mass, a walk, or just because.

Experiences at Fika 33

At Fika 33, the food is wholesome. You will find Irish breakfasts with authentic Dromully Load boxty, BLTs that don’t skimp on the ‘B’, and soup – all made with locally sourced ingredients. Coffee is roasted to perfection, milk is steamed like we mean it, and yes, we keep oat, almond, soya, and coconut milk on hand because people like choice.

But it is not just about the menu. It is the way the place feels. A mix of chatter with friends, the clink of cups, the smell of bread toasting, and the occasional laugh from the kitchen. It’s neighbours catching up, walkers thawing out after a windy loop around Killykeen, kids pressing their noses to the cake display.

In short, we are the microcosm of the local community serving food, laughter, and unforgettable experiences.
